Today's early kick-off in the Premier League saw Manchester United play hosts to Newcastle United, in a match that can only be accurately described as a mildly entertaining, goalless draw.

Indeed, the Red Devils had their moments going forward and controlled the vast majority of the ball - 66.5% to be precise - yet they were curtailed by a resilient, well-organised Magpies defence that completed 15 blocks and 15 tackles to claim a vital clean sheet.

In fact, it was the Toon outfit's first point away from home since all the way back in February, so a very significant result for the club and new manager Steve McClaren.

And whilst the match itself may have been somewhat disappointing overall, Twitter certainly didn't as per usual. With our love for social media verging upon obsessive, we at Football Fancast have complied the best tweets from today's game into one easily accessible social media gallery. Bants galore.
