December usually marks the first significant gear change of United’s season as they power through the Christmas period and take a strong foothold in the title race. It’s often said that the festive fixture pile up is the campaigns defining period and that certainly rings true for the Old Trafford club, who’ve won 77% of their December league games in the past 10 years and have lost just SIX matches in that time. In no uncertain terms that is quite remarkable. But Sir Alex Ferguson’s men have found it tough going this term and have been made to work harder than ever before for the Premier League’s top spot. No team has picked up more points from winning positions than United this season and that resilience will no doubt come in handy as they bid to remain ahead of rivals City at the top of the tree.
This week on FFC is Ferguson stifling consistency by continually tinkering with his team and which Holland midfield star could be set to make a belated switch to Old Trafford?

Quote of the Week
“You can’t be certain of saying it’s going to be a two-horse race at this stage. But over the years we’ve said that the top five or six are all capable of winning the league and eventually it does ends up being a two-horse race. Year after year it’s been like that. There was space between the two teams and others last year. The important thing to do is just look at yourselves – we want to be up there all the time. We need to stay up there and this is not an easy league to do it in.” Sir Alex Ferguson is adamant the title is not a two-horse race
