Borussia Dortmund midfielder Marco Reus has turned down a move to Manchester United this summer, according to the Daily Star.
The 24-year-old attacking midfielder has a £29m release clause in his contract and was a top target for Louis van Gaal’s wanted ahead of his much anticipated Old Trafford arrival.
But the German international insists he does not want to leave Dortmund and that he has no intention of doing so in the near future.
He said: “It’s safe to say I will be playing for Borussia Dortmund also in the 2014/2014 season.
“Basically I do not need to stress all the time that I am feeling great being with the club.
“As far as leaving, that is no issue for me, and I am not affected by it.”
Reus’ comments will be a blow to van Gaal and Man United as they try and put a disastrous season behind them by strengthening the squad in order to return to competing at the top of the Premier League table.
