Manchester United and Arsenal have been told they will not be signing Holland youngster Jordy Clasie.

The Premier League duo, along with Liverpool, have been linked with the Feyernoord midfielder since the World Cup, but have been told he is not for sale, according to the Daily Star.

Clasie played twice for the Netherlands in Brazil, attracting attention in their semi-final defeat to Argentina and in their 3rd place play-off victory over Brazil. But Feyernoord have been quick to deter any club from making an offer for the 23-year-old, stating that they see him as a vital part of their push to be at the top of the Eredivisie.

“Our intention is to keep him because he is happy here and especially because we aim to be leaders with the right mix of youth and potential champions.” said Feyenoord sporting director Martin van Geel.

Manchester United have been strongly linked with Clasie due to his connections with van Gaal, who has now left his post as Holland manager to become the boss at Old Trafford. Fellow Feyernoord teammate Stefan de Vrij has also been linked with a move to join van Gaal at United, but again the Dutch side re keen to keep hold of their star players.

Clasie made 32 league appearances for Feyernoord last season, as they finished 2nd in the table.
