Being left out in the cold seems to have done Henrikh Mkhitaryan some good as he managed to score his first goal for Manchester United on Thursday evening, and what a goal it was.

The Armenian was snubbed from the team for the first few months of the season, with manager Jose Mourinho constantly telling the media that the winger needs to build up his fitness in order to cope with the demands of English football.

Well, in the last few weeks, Mkhitaryan has been given licence to show his talent, and he certainly did in Ukraine by scoring the opening goal of United’s 2-0 victory over Zorya Luhansk in their final Europa League group game.

It was a great individual piece of skill as the 27-year-old charged through two Zorya defenders before sliding the ball into the bottom corner in the 48th minute of the match.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic nabbed the other goal of the game, but all Jose Mourinho’s side required was a point to qualify for the last 32.

Job done for the Red Devils, and that goal from Mkhitaryan should earn him a starting spot against Tottenham Hotspur this weekend.

Fans were quick to praise the United man on Twitter following his stunning effort.
