Jose Mourinho is the new Manchester United manager, had you heard?

The speculation is in full rumble-mode and players around the world are wondering if they will be the next one to be rewarded with a monster Mourinho and Jorge Mendes pay-day at the Red Devils. The English media are excited to have their favourite boss back, the United fans think this is the coming of a messiah and the rest of the footballing world just can't wait to see Pep Guardiola and Mourinho clash once again.

The squad at Old Trafford is likely to face a typical Mourinho revamp. Deadwood will be sold off, youngsters will be loaned to Timbuktu and the veterans will sign bumper new deals. Mourinho is unlikely to change his way of operating, it is proven to be hugely successful, after all, and he has become one of the biggest names of football doing just that.

Timothy Fosu-Mensah

Mourinho doesn't have the best reputation when it comes to dealing with younger players, but Fosu-Mensah seems like the sort of starlet that the Portuguese manager may admire.

Whether he is needed at full-back on either side or as a defensive midfielder, Fosu-Mensah will surely catch the eye of the manager and could well be one of the first youngsters to really make it under Mourinho.

Morgan Schneiderlin

Every manager loves a good defensive midfielder, but Mourinho is renowned for it more than most.

Schneiderlin, who was criminally underused by Louis van Gaal, could be the crucial screening player in midfield for Mourinho. Schneiderlin was one of the best in Europe whilst at Southampton and is an exceptional reader of the game, as well as a powerful athlete.

Luke Shaw

Shaw's United career has been blighted by injury after injury to date, unfortunately.

However, the marauding left-back will surely benefit from Mourinho's tendency to rely on full-backs defensively and this can help Shaw develop the weaker parts of his game. Whether his fitness holds up is largely out of the hands of Manchester United, so it could be a tricky time if Mourinho shows his typical ruthlessness and moves Shaw on.

Chris Smalling

One of the form English players at the moment, Smalling has been crying out for a reliable, assured defensive partner.

He is likely to be placed alongside the raw and inexperienced Eric Bailly next season, however, and Mourinho will certainly place extra responsibility on the shoulders of the England international.
