Fresh from being named the EA SPORTS Player of the Month for December, Zlatan Ibrahimovic has spoken about his first six months at Old Trafford, hailing the club, his team-mates and his manager as “great”, while revealing that he feels he’s adapting to English football.

What’s the story?

‘Ibra’ was one of the standout signings of the summer 2016 transfer window when he joined Mourinho’s Old Trafford revolution after leaving Paris Saint-Germain upon the expiration of his contract. Despite his stellar record in terms of trophies won through a career that’s taken the Swede from his homeland through the Netherlands, Italy, Spain and France, some doubted the Scandinavian’s ability to adapt to Premier League football, with his age, he’s now 35, a point often talked about.

Alas, Ibrahimovic has been a major success thus far, notching 18 goals in all competitions for Man United, while playing regularly despite his age. His performances were particularly notable in December, when he smashed five league goals to help the Red Devils through a fine festive period that has put them on the periphery of the title race after a dip during the Autumn months.

Ibrahimovic was named EA SPORTS’ Player of the Month on the back of this and he, speaking to EASPORTS.com, lifted the lid on his opening months at Man United:

“Slowly, slowly, I’m adapting. I feel comfortable, I feel confident.

“I’m playing in a great team, with great teammates, great coach and for a great club. Everyone here has made it easier for me, so I just had to come and do things that I do, and when you work hard it pays off.”

He then went on to talk about the Premier League as a whole:

“I think that the pace is very high, the rhythm is very high and physically it’s much stronger here.

“The atmosphere is different here because every game is full and when opponents play against United, it’s always a full house."

Of his five goals through December, Ibrahimovic’s strike vs. Everton was, arguably, the pick. The experienced hit-man latched onto a long ball forward and showed the sort of technique and composure associated with him as he lobbed Maarten Stekelenburg. The ball only just crossed the line via a combination of crossbar and post, but it looked delightful!
