As reported by The Telegraph, Everton and West Brom are locked in a battle to sign France international Morgan Schneiderlin from Manchester United in the upcoming January transfer window.

What's the word?

Having made just two Premier League appearances under Jose Mourinho, Morgan Schneiderlin isn't having the most satisfying of seasons at Old Trafford.

The Telegraph reports that Ronald Koeman and Tony Pulis are both keen to give him regular football at their respective clubs and are willing to pay up to £20m to do so.

That'll be music to the ears of Man United and their fans given that the France international didn't arrive at Old Trafford for much more than that.

With Mourinho expected to be busy himself in the upcoming window, commanding a £20m fee and recouping their outlay for what has become a fringe player would be welcomed.

If he can't get a game, what does he offer?

There's no shame in being unable to hold down a first-team place at Old Trafford. Besides, he's a known quantity to one of these managers.

It was Schneiderlin's excellent form at Southampton under Ronald Koeman that attracted Manchester United to him in the first place, so the Dutch manager obviously able to get the best out of him.

The Man United man is an all-round midfielder with the ability the win the ball and move it on with creativity to his team-mates.

He has the ability to become a fans' favourite, too, winning the Southampton Fans' Player of the Year Award on their return to the Premier League.

At the reported £20m, bringing him to Everton or West Brom would be a significant outlay for both clubs but we'd back him to be a success in Liverpool or Birmingham should his time truly be up at Old Trafford.
