As many people know if they have been following the football season at all, it looks highly unlikely that Louis van Gaal will still he in Manchester by the end of the summer. Over the past two years LVG has done no better than predecessor David Moyes, selling fan favourites Rafael, Robin van Persie, Javier Hernandez and more, all of whom have gone on to prove themselves, while overseeing a steady decline in results.

For United fans it has been a season of frustration, with no consistency in their play and struggles in winnable games, such as against Bournemouth, Norwich, Sunderland and more. One thing is for certain for United though... going forward, Van Gaal has to leave.

This has become more of an importance ever since Pep Guardiola was announced at the 'noisy neighbours'' next gaffer. City are putting Untied at risk of being overshadowed by their inter-city rivals.

The big question on the lips of every fan is who should take charge of what is becoming the hardest and most impossible job within football? Whomever it is, they will have to inspire one of the dodgiest squads in the football club's history.

One of the biggest names linked is of course Jose Mourinho, who was sacked by Chelsea earlier in the season. It is no secret that Mourinho wants the United job, with the Portuguese manager often believing he was the natural successor to Sir Alex Ferguson's throne. However much to his dismay, United chose to employ David Moyes around the time he made a play for the role, and we all know how that went.

Although Mourinho is a proven Premier League manager, his recent performances at Chelsea in his last few months were not exciting or enjoyable. Chelsea were labelled as a boring football side, with Mourinho playing more defensively than ever.

With rumours that legends of the Red Devils such as Sir Bobby Charlton, Fergie and David Gill do not want him, it could be hard for Jose to get his dream job.

Another man being talked about is Atletico Madrid's Diego Simeone. In 2013/14 he took his team of 'underdogs' to the Champions League final as well as the La Liga title, helping to propel the careers of Radamel Falcao, Diego Costa, Thibaut Courtois, Koke, Toby Alderweireld and Mario Suarez to name a few. He proved that the Spanish monopoly could be broken, and that a team mixed with youth and experience can do well. With Chelsea amongst the few teams looking at him also, the Red Devils we need to decide quickly.

The other option is of course to go with members of the Class of '92. Ryan Giggs is already on the bench at United and has been linked with the job on numerous occasions. Even though he has the bare minimum of experience, he knows the club through and through, knows exactly where they need to improve and what the playing style should be like. Whether he decides to manage alone, or bring in the likes of Gary Neville, now manager at Valencia, or Paul Scholes, Nicky Butt or Phil Neville remains to be seen.

One thing is for sure, the red half of Manchester just want somebody who can take the club forward rather than back, bring not only stability but youth through the system, as well as more trophies and success. It's a simple request, but under Van Gaal and Moyes it's not been happening.
