Mesut Ozil could be back on Man Utd’s watch after suggestions the playmaker is growing frustrated at Real Madrid, the Sun reports.

The German international, 24, who signed for the Spanish champions from Werder Bremen two seasons ago enjoyed an excellent start to his career at the Bernabeu .

However he is no longer a guaranteed first choice in the team now, with competition from Luka Modric and it is said that he is becoming increasingly frustrated at being rotated.

Sir Alex Ferguson is looking to bolster his midfield options after focussing his transfer activity last summer on strengthening his forward line. Mesut Ozil would fit the bill in terms of the creative midfield player he is after as a possible long term replacement for Paul Scholes.

It is thought that Real would demand around £24million for Ozil, but after missing out on targets Eden Hazard and Lucas Moura in the summer Ferguson would have the money to spend.

Utd would also be able to fit Ozil’s wage demands comfortably into their structure as he currently earns £110,000 a week at Madrid.  At 24-years-old he is a player who still has time to develop as well.
