Manchester United have edged even closer to signing Real Madrid winger Angel Di Maria after agreeing a £63.9million fee for his services, according to Sky Sports.
The fee, which will become a new British transfer record, equates to €80million and was agreed by both clubs this afternoon.
The Argentina international is expected to fly in to Manchester on Friday to hold personal talks and complete a medical.
Real manager Carlo Ancelloti confirmed today that Di Maria had said his goodbyes to his Madrid team mates ahead of the move.
He said: “He has not trained with us today (Sunday) and he came in to say goodbye to the players and people at the club.
“We are thankful for what he has done at this club. There is nothing official yet but is being sorted out.
“The decision is his and the club has done what it could to keep him here but he thought differently so good luck to him.”
Di Maria’s arrival is expected to spark a busy final week of the transfer window for United, who are also expected to sign Dutch duo Daley Blind and Nigel de Jong from Ajax and AC Milan respectively.
