The experienced coach is currently in Brazil in charge of the Oranje, but is set to make his switch to Old Trafford proper as soon as the tournament ends.
Robben has been one of LVG’s stars in recent weeks, playing a major role in the side’s 100% group record, netting important goals against Spain and Australia.
Prior to the competition the Bayern Munich man was linked with a switch to United, and has previously featured in the Premier League with Chelsea during the early years of his career.
Now Roy feels that van Gaal is desperate to get the 30-year-old to the Theatre of Dreams for 2014/15:
“I think Louis wants him desperately to come to Manchester United,” said Roy, currently reserve team coach at Ajax.” He told talkSPORT.
“Bayern Munich is also a big club and he is very happy there but you never know. With football, everything is possible.”
Roy also believes that van Gaal will be a success at United:
“Manchester United has made a very good choice to pick Louis van Gaal,
“Everybody sees it now at the World Cup. He really knows how to make a team play very well.”
