Manchester United are edging closer to securing a double swoop for Dutch internationals Daley Blind and Nigel de Jong, according to Metro.
New Old Trafford boss Louis van Gaal has been frustrated in his attempts to rebuild the former Premier League champions this summer, with Marcos Rojo, Ander Herrera and Luke Shaw the only players to sign up to his plans so far.
But van Gaal looks like he could finally having some luck, with Ajax’s Blind and AC Milan’s de Jong both expected to put pen-to-paper on permanent moves to the Red Devils before the end of the window.
The reports come just 24 hours after it had emerged United were close to completing a £50million deal for Real Madrid winger Angel Di Maria, who could be officially unveiled as United player as early as Tuesday.
The capture of de Jong could raise a few eyebrows, with thew 29-year-old previously enjoying a spell in the Premier League with rival United’s rivals Manchester City.
While Blind’s arrival will be viewed as something of a coup after the youngster impressed for van Gaal’s Holland in the World Cup last month.
