Twenty-three-year-old Jordy Clasie, dubbed the ‘New Xavi’ among many of his international admirers, is expected to be on the move to one of Europe’s top leagues by the end of the season, according to reports from the Daily Star.

The Feyenoord and Holland star has been gaining attention for his ability to dominate play in the middle of the park, as well as his distinctly cool and composed nature on the ball.

The Premier League may therefore be an ideal place for the Dutchman to bring his game. The level of competition would certainly benefit the bustling no. 6, even if the step up from the Eredivisie may come as an initial culture shock at first.

Whilst Liverpool and Arsenal have both reportedly expressed an interest in landing Clasie, seeing as the young Dutch star made an appearance at the World Cup with Louis van Gaal’s Netherlands regime, Manchester United would seemingly be the best place for the 23-year-old to relocate to, should he decide to eventually move on from Feyenoord.

The stylish midfielder would suit playing alongside Holland teammates Daley Blind and Robin van Persie, and as van Gaal has demonstrated his trust in the emerging talent in the past, it seems logical that the relationship between the two could fittingly continue at Old Trafford.

That said, perhaps fans of English football may have to wait to see Jordy Clasie in action on these shores, with the young Dutchman expressing his desire to play in Serie A.

"Right now I'm 100 per cent focussed on Feyenoord, but I nurture the dream of playing abroad someday, perhaps in Italy," he said.

Southampton have also been linked with Clasie in the past, who is currently tasked with aiding his Feyenoord team in their 2014/15 campaign in the Eredivisie.
