Quite the fanfare surrounded Memphis Depay's £25million move to Manchester United during summer.

After being nominated for the Young Player of the Tournament award at the 2014 World Cup and finishing up as the Eredivisie's top scorer during his ultimate campaign with PSV, the prodigious winger was hailed as 'the Dutch Cristiano Ronaldo' upon being announced as the Red Devils' first signing of the summer in May.

Yet, the Depay seeming destined for Ballon d'Or realms of greatness still hasn't quite turned up at Old Trafford. He's scored just five times across all competitions thus far - a far cry from his 28 goals last season - and was even dropped by Louis van Gaal for over a month after being hauled off in a 3-0 defeat to Arsenal.

Most expected an improved performance from the 21-year-old this evening upon facing his former employers in the Champions League, especially after netting against Watford on Saturday.

But Depay's performance in the first half has been disturbingly disappointing, failing to record a single successful dribble in 45 minutes whilst producing just one effort at goal. Stat enthusiasts Whoscored.com have awarded him a rating of 6.4 and that lowly estimation of the winger was shared by frustrated United fans on social media.
