Manchester United look to have a clear path to sign Angel di Maria, with Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti having confirmed that the player wants to leave.
The Argentine World Cup finalist has been heavily linked with a move away from the Spanish capital for much of the summer, with Los Blancos having moved to sign James Rodriguez in a mega money deal.
PSG were thought to be leading the race for Di Maria, but problems surrounding a potential loan swoop due to Financial Fair Play restrictions has stalled proceedings and led to suggestions that he may stay, despite interest from United.
But now Ancelotti has revealed that the 26-year-old actually wants to leave the Bernabeu:
“Di María has asked to leave and rejected an offer from the club. If he does not find a future solution, he stays – no problem.” he is quoted by The Metro.
Real are understood to be after £50m for their man, while Di Maria himself wants wages of close to £200,000-per-week.
United are rumoured to have the funds to get a deal done, but a lack of Champions League football and the presence of PSG are barriers they will have to overcome.
