Juventus have told Manchester United to push through a move for Arturo Vidal within a week or forget about signing him, according to reports from The Express.

The Chilean’s prospective switch to Old Trafford has become one of the summer’s transfer sagas, with various rumours suggesting that a deal is either on or off on a daily basis.

Despite senior figures at Juve suggesting the 27-year-old is staying put, there has been serious talk of late that a contract worth almost £200,000-per-week has been agreed, and that the midfielder is desperate to sign for Louis van Gaal’s side.

However United will have to act quickly as the Old Lady are getting anxious at the way negotiations are dragging on.

It’s been suggested that Nani and Javier Hernandez could be used in exchange, and Juve are keen for some clarity so they can step up their own transfer plans if the bombarding South American does leave Turin.

LVG is thought to be reluctant to do business in a speedy fashion, as he wants Vidal’s knee injury to be properly assessed before committing to a deal worth in excess of £40m.

Kevin Strootman remains a target, while Nigel de Jong has been mooted as a cheap alternative.
