Manchester United will have to spend around £20m to lure Nicolas Gaitan away from Benfica, according to the player himself.
Chelsea swooped to bring their former ace Nemanja Matic back to Stamford Bridge last week from the Lisbon giants, but were made to pay a sizable fee to do so.
Even though the Serbian only recently left for a large sum, Benfica are believed to be open to selling some of their other star turns in a bid to ease financial pressure.
Gaitan is another of their prize assets, and has been linked with United consistently over the course of the past few years.
The Argentine winger is widely regarded as on of the very best players playing his trade in Portugal, with his mix of pace and attacking intent having made him a fearsome foe for defenders across the division and in European competition for some time.
Gaitan says that he is fully committed to his current side, but that if an offer in the region of the one that saw Matic switch does come in, he may be on the move:
“I am at Benfica , I have a contract until 2016.” He is quoted by The Express.
“I want to respect it, but if there is an offer like what happened to Matic, we’ll see.
“At the moment, I only think about playing. That is what I love. The rest does not depend on me.”
