Juan Mata believes that Ryan Giggs is the ideal man to be Manchester United’s next permanent manager.
The Welshman stepped into the Red Devils’ dugout on an interim basis last week following the dismissal of David Moyes after a disastrous 10 months at the help of the Premier League champions.
Saturday saw Giggs lead his side out at Old Trafford for the first time against Norwich, and after the home crowd gave him a warm welcome he oversaw a 4-0 victory against the relegation battlers.
Mata – who only arrived at United in January – netted two of the goals, and despite having only been at the club for a short while, he feels that Giggs is the perfect man to take the helm of a full-time basis:
“If we speak about Ryan we speak about a Manchester United person,” he is quoted by Sky Sports.
“He was very successful here as a player and now he is leading the team. We are all happy because who is better to do it?”
Giggs was initially given the final four games by United’s hierarchy – Norwich included – to oversee, and is widely expected to be succeeded by an experienced coach over the summer.
Louis van Gaal is being tipped as the next man to take charge at the Theatre of Dreams.
