The Red Devils have been tracking the Chile World Cup star for much of the summer, but despite talk of a contract having been agreed with the player – mainly from the press in his homeland – a deal has evaded the Louis van Gaal’s side.
Juve have maintained all along that Vidal would not be sold, and have held firm despite the speculation while insisting that the 27-year-old is settled in Turin.
But they face one last battle to keep him at the club, with United set to offer £42m and Hernandez – whom is a rumoured target for the Old Lady.
Van Gaal is desperate to add the bombarding South American to his engine room, and is hopeful that the fee will be enough to tempt Juve, even though their deadline for the deal passed last week.
United are understood to be unwilling to bid any more and should the Italians reject they may look at other targets, with Inter Milan’s Fredy Guarin in their radar.
