Manchester United are plotting a stunning summer move to beat Arsenal to the signature of Schalke’s Julian Draxler, according to reports from the Daily Star.

The £37m-rated midfielder was heavily linked with the Gunners in January, with some rumours suggesting that a deal to take him to the Emirates Stadium was on the verge of completion.

However, the London club are thought to have been unwilling to match Schalke’s asking price for their 20-year-old sensation, leaving the switch dead in the water.

Arsenal have since been linked with a fresh approach for his services when the current season ends, but now United are ready to pounce.

The Red Devils are known to be planning a major summer of activity, with David Moyes set to spend a supposed £100m+ budget on a multiple top name players to revive his ailing team.

It is thought that the Scot is ready to meet the Bundesliga giants’ asking price for their man as he looks to put the woes of last year’s transfer business in the past.

As well as Draxler, United are also thought to be closing in on deals for fellow Germans Ilkay Gundogan and Marco Reus of Borussia Dortmund.
