The Germany international has been on the Red Devils’ agenda for some time, with rumours last summer and in January indicating that swoops were being considered as David Moyes scoured the transfer market for new players.
On both occasions a deal failed to materialise, but United have since remained keen on Reus and are ready to revive their interest in a few months’ time.
After a difficult season, there is speculation suggesting that the 24-year-old is ready to call time on his spell at the Westfalenstadion, with the sales of big name players having left a number of key men frustrated.
Reus has netted 19 goals this term, and Moyes is believed to be ready to dedicate a large chunk of his reported £200m budget to securing his signature.
Now United have been further buoyed by claims from former Dortmund team-mate Mario Gotze that the forward may be open to a the move:
“When I was at Borussia, Marco wanted a move to Man United, he hasn’t changed.”
But, the Scot may face competition from the likes of PSG and Real Madrid whom are able to offer the player Champions League football.
Reus is seen as one of German football’s top talents and is almost certain to represent his nation at the World Cup.
