The Ballon D'Or may be the footballing equivalent of the Eurovision Song Contest, but it seems it means an awful lot to a number of Manchester United fans, who are furious to have seen one of their stars missing from the 30-man shortlist.

France Football released the names of the 30 contenders for the award yesterday and it featured eight names from the Premier League - but Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea was not one of them.

On the list, though, is Tottenham stopper Hugo Lloris and, despite De Gea achieving next to nothing this year whilst Lloris was a finalist in the European Championship with France, United fans have been quick to voice their belief that their man is better than Spurs' 'keeper.

It is all pretty meaningless, though, as it's obvious that neither would actually win the award anyway, but that hasn't stopped United fans from taking to Twitter and angrily ranting - whilst Spurs supporters have pointed out some fairly conclusive arguments that suggest why the decision went in the favour of their captain.
