Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal is ready to launch a £25m move for Bayern Munich winger Arjen Robben if he is named as David Moyes’ successor, according to reports from The Sun.

The Dutchman looks set to be the next man in the dugout at Old Trafford, with some rumours having suggested that a deal is all but sealed.

Van Gaal is likely to be given upwards of £150m to spend in order to rebuild the club’s ailing squad, and is ready to bring in his compatriot, Robben.

The flying wide-man has been one of Europe’s top attackers in recent seasons, playing a key role in Bayern’s Champions League and Bundesliga successes.

However, the German giants are believed to be ready to sell him if a good offer is received, and the prospective United chief is willing to spend up to £25m.

Despite being 30, Robben is still seen as a top talent, and could form a deadly relationship with the likes of Wayne Rooney and fellow Oranje star Robin van Persie.

To old we need to build a young side not a side in 3 years time will need to spend 150million again . Robben is a great player but to old for utd an plus 25million is way to much for a player you could not sell on stupid I think . Bad idea we need players from the age of 25 an below not older .. Van gaal works best with youth so that’s what we need a young side to build a team to take our rightful place at the top. LUHG

Cracking player but definitely not a long term option. Could help spark some life back into United for the next two seasons, but we need to develop our youngsters in the process.
