Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal is considering a move to bring Holland left-back Daley Blind with him to Old Trafford after the World Cup, according to reports from The Mirror.

The 23-year-old was one of the Oranje’s top performers in the 5-1 demolition of defending champions Spain on Friday, with his rampaging runs and energy providing a constant threat for La Roja.

With a new left-sided defender believed to be a priority for van Gaal when he makes his long-awaited move to the Theatre of Dreams after the tournament, Blind is now seen as an option.

The son of former Netherlands star Danny is currently plying his trade for Ajax, but despite his impressive 2013/14 the Amsterdamers are rumoured to be ready to sell for around £12m.

Luke Shaw of Southampton has long been mooted as the top target, but with Blind offering more value for money he could be an appealing option.

As well as being a competent left-back, he is also able to play in a central midfield role – which is where he often featured last term at Ajax under Frank de Boer.
