The Juventus midfielder has been the Red Devils’ top target for much of the summer, but a deal has, thus far, evaded them
Reports from Chile, the 27-year-old’s homeland, have suggested that a contract has been agreed between the player and the club, and that all that’s standing in the way is Juve.
A switch has looked unlikely over the course of the past few days, but United’s poor opening to the season has highlighted the need for additions, and a £40m+ offer for Vidal will be lodged when Di Maria officially becomes a Red Devil.
One major issue remains Vidal’s knee injury, with Louis van Gaal rumoured to be reluctant to commit to a mega money deal unless he’s assured that the South American will be 100% and ready to help the club recover from their poor start.
In a bid to get past this, Ed Woodward is thought to be preparing a deal heavily based on payments depending on his appearances and performance.
