Louis Van Gaal's "judge me in three months" comment at the beginning of the season appears to have extended itself to another three months, or even to the end of the season.

Manchester United are undoubtedly improving under their new Dutch boss, albeit with the obligatory moaning from fans about tactics, several injury problems and the inevitable comparison with David Moyes.

Fourth spot in the Premier League at this point in the season isn't to be sniffed at, though, and we have every reason to believe United will be amongst the chasing pack for Champions League qualification come the end of May.

But with performances not the most convincing and with a lot of interesting surrounding the Red Devil's star performers thus far, Van Gaal has found his side linked with possible reinforcements all over the shop.

And with less than a week before the transfer window proverbially slams shut, rumours about Man United's transfer business are picking up pace. So here's a look what's happening in the world of Man United today, as well as some further reading for you to enjoy...

Bale doesn't want Old Trafford switch

Gareth Bale

It's little wonder Man United have been linked with world's most expensive player this month, what with Real Madrid reportedly looking at David De Gea as Iker Casillas' long-term replacement. It has swap deal written all over it, doesn't it?

But Gareth Bale insists he'd rather stay in Madrid than come back to the Premier League to play for Man United, which is both surprising and unsurprising depending on which way you look at it.

You can read all about that here.

Nani to be sold?

Left Wing – Nani

Nani might still believe he has a future at Old Trafford, but that doesn't mean Van Gaal actually wants him - and reports today suggest he doesn't.

The winger is currently on loan at Sporting Lisbon, but Van Gaal would much prefer to get him off the books now in order to free up some cash for potential late reinforcements.

Good news! De Gea could be staying at Old Trafford

Manchester United v Stoke City - Barclays Premier League

For a while it looked as if United's capture of Victor Valdes was a sign that De Gea was on his way back to Spain to become a Galactico.

But reports today reckon he's actually on the verge of signing a new five-year contract at Old Trafford. But what does that mean for Valdes?

That report can be found in more detail here.

Is Clyne a perfect fit at United?

Click Clyne

One of this month's more unusual transfer rumours has been Southampton's Nathaniel Clyne being picked up by Man United. Clyne's form this season is arguably worthy of such a move, but is he the type of player Van Gaal should be looking at?

We've had a look at it from all angles, and come up with this conclusion.
