Reports in Germany last month confirmed that David Moyes had been to watch the young defender in action, ahead of a possible summer bid.
Ginter is rated as one of the most promising young defenders in Europe, while Bayern Munich and Arsenal have previously been linked with a £10million move.
And Ginter has dropped a hint he could be on the move in the summer, stating his desire to join a club of Bayern’s stature.
“I am unable to publicly discuss negotiations, this should remain behind closed doors,” he told SPORT1.
“It’s definitely good to know great clubs are interested in my services. It’s an honour to see clubs like this being keen.
“It’s my goal to play for a big club one day in the future. This is no secret.
“It doesn’t need to be Bayern Munich. Still, to play for a big club is the dream of every football player.”
The Freiburg centre back admitted earlier this week he was ‘honoured and excited’ to be linked with a move to the reigning Premier League champions.
“If it is true, I am of course honoured and excited,” Ginter is quoted as saying.
“On the other hand, there is still a long way to the summer.”
