Paris Saint-Germain tried to sign Manchester United wonderkid Adnan Januzaj five minutes before the Belgian was to sign on the dotted line at Old Trafford.
The youngster has been one of few positives to come out of a disastrous season for United, and his agent has revealed he was close to ditching the club for the mega-riches of PSG.
But he opted to remain at the club despite interest from a number of other European super powers, including Barcelona.
His agent Dirk De Vriese told the Daily Star: “Among the clubs eager to attract, we talked about Barca in particular.
“All the big clubs have pulled at his sleeve. Especially Paris Saint-Germain who wanted to go really far. Five minutes before we signed the contract extension, an adviser to the president of Qatar made a completely insane offer to us.
“Because Adnan, at the end of the season was a free agent, and no transfer fee would be payable. The Qatari leaders were ready to offer everything, both in terms of salary and signing bonus.”
And De Vriese also claims that United have made him the highest earning youngster in the game today.
“I can only say that he is the highest paid young person in the world,” he revealed.
“At 18, he has a fatter contract Cristiano Ronaldo or Lionel Messi at that age. That is what I’m proud of.
“We could’ve gone further as United wanted to keep him and the competition was so fierce.”
