Manchester United star Juan Mata has called on his team to transfer their away day form to Old Trafford.
The Red Devils are currently the Premier League’s top side on the road following their Saturday 4-0 thrashing of Newcastle at St James’ Park, but they still occupy a relatively underwhelming spot in sixth on the back of a poor campaign.
Winning on Tyneside made it 10 away day victories for David Moyes’ men, and Mata wants his side to replicate that form on home turf from now on:
“When we look at that record, we think we should have done better at home and at Old Trafford.” He is quoted by the Daily Star.
“But I think it is something to be proud of, to be the best team away from home in the league.
“Let’s try to win at home, win as many games as we can until the end of the season and go higher in the table.”
Mata netted twice against Newcastle to take his tally at United to three following his January move to the club from Chelsea.
The defending Premier League champions have endured a difficult campaign under Moyes, with home losses to the likes of Liverpool and Manchester City having been particularly disappointing.
