Manchester United are considering a January move for Porto midfielder Lucho Gonzalez, according to reports from The Express.

Red Devils chief David Moyes is believed to be keen to add a creative playmaker too his ranks next month in a bid to turn his sides’ fortunes around after a below par start to the season.

The Scot watched Porto’s clash with Atletico Madrid earlier in the week with one eye on Koke – who plays for the Spanish side – but was impressed by Gonzalez.

At 32, the Argentine will be by no means a long-term solution to the Premier League champions’ issues, but is believed to be seen as a good player to come in while the search for a top class option continues.

Moyes was linked with the ex-Marseille man while at Everton, and is thought to be very aware of the qualities he possesses.

Due to his age and his contractual situation – his deal is set to expire at the end of the season – Porto are unlikely to demand a large fee for Gonzalez, which could appeal further to United who are likely to chase a number of targets in the New Year.
