The Red Devils have been linked with a number of players ahead of next month’s transfer window, with David Moyes keen to bolster his squad after a woeful start to the season.
With sizable funds at his disposal, the Scot is keen to make Guarin his first major arrival of 2014, with reports suggesting that contact between the two clubs and the player has been made.
While a creative force is needed, Moyes is also looking to add a box-to-box midfielder to boost his side’s dynamism in the middle of the park, and he sees the Colombian international as the ideal candidate.
It is believed that Inter value their man at around £15m, but United are hopeful that they can secure his signature for closer to the £10m mark.
Guarin – who has been lauded for his commanding, all-energy style of play – has also been linked with Tottenham, while Liverpool are rumoured to have watched his development.
United could also address their need for more inventiveness with a swoop for summer target Ander Herrera, who is still thought to be on Moyes’ radar despite claims that all hopes of a deal have ended.
