Manchester United boss David Moyes is ready to make a move for Shakhtar Donetsk’s Alex Teixeira after being impressed by the attacking midfielder’s display against his side in the Champions League last week, according to reports from the Sunday People.

The Red Devils overcame the Ukrainian giants on their way to booking a spot in the knockout stages of the competition against their lacklustre enemies, but the Brazilian managed to make an impact on the Scot.

The 23-year-old produced a solid all-round display, and is seen as an ideal candidate to inject some creativity and guile into the Red Devils’ attacking set-up.

The South American ace – who has been attracting attention from some of European football’s top names for quite a while – is valued at around £25m by Shakhtar, a figure that Moyes is likely to be able to stretch to with rumours suggesting he has a vast budget at his disposal ahead of next month.

United were thought to have made Kevin Strootman of Roma their major target for the New Year, but have been deterred by the Serie A side’s reluctance to let the Dutchman leave.
