Asmir Begovic Stoke goalkeeper

Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson is keen to sign Stoke City goalkeeper Asmir Begovic in the summer, according to The Sun.

Ferguson is losing patience with current first choice stopper David De Gea after a run of high profile errors and Begovic has impressed over the past 18 months at the Britannia Stadium.

De Gea still has four months to prove why he was rated as one of the best young ‘keepers in the world, but it won’t take much for Ferguson to pick up the phone to Stoke between now and May.

Tony Pulis snapped up highly rated Birmingham goalkeeper Jack Bultand on transfer deadline day for £4million but he has been sent back on loan to the Championship club for the remainder of the season.

Butland; now and England international; will not have joined the Potters to be a number two and so Begovic may see this summer as the ideal time to make a step forward in his promising career.
