Manchester United will turn their attention away from Leighton Baines and to Sevilla defender Alberto Moreno.
The Mirror are reporting that the Spaniard, with long-term target Baines set to sign a new deal at Goodison Park.
Baines was on the receiving end of an offer from United in the summer, that was rejected by Everton.
Moyes’s scouting time have been keeping an eye on 21-year-old Moreno, and are lining up a summer swoop. Sevilla are reported to value Moreno at £18million. But the United boss could face competition from Real Madrid, who are also monitoring the youngster.
Baines looks set to sign a new £75,000-a-week deal at Everton, which will deny David Moyes from bringing his former left-back to Old Trafford. It comes as another blow for the Scot, who spent a lot of the summer transfer window missing out on his transfer targets.
Moreno has made 2 appearances for Spain’s national side, after some strong performances in his 15 La Liga fixtures for Sevilla, where he has scored 2 goals. Sevilla are 6 points adrift of 4th placed Athletic Bilbao, and the left-back could be tempted to move to a club offering Champions League football.
United have also been linked with a move for Southampton defender Luke Shaw, however Moreno looks set to have become their preferred, and cheaper, option.
