Juan Mata says that he can cope with the pressure following his record move to Manchester United from Chelsea.

The Spanish playmaker secured a £37m switch to Old Trafford from the Blues over the weekend after growing frustrated at a lack of first-team opportunities in Jose Mourinho’s side.

With United currently struggling under the stewardship of David Moyes, Mata is already being dubbed the player that can get their season back on track.

He is expected to link well with Wayne Rooney and Robin van Persie – when he’s fit – in the sort of front line that can fire the Premier League champions into the top four.

Although there is a lot of expectation currently upon him, Mata says that he is thrilled to be a United player and that he can deal with the pressure:

“This is a massive chance for me. Manchester United is such a massive club.” he is quoted by the Daily Star.

“I’ve realised that since I came here and I’m really glad to be here.

“This is the club that has won the most trophies and it’s down to me to show people the football I have inside of me.

“I love the pressure. When people are suspecting big things from you then it’s a challenge, but I am looking forward to being successful.

“I will play anywhere the manager wants me to. I just want to help the team win as many games as they can.”
