Manchester United are considering a January swoop for Real Madrid midfielder Sami Khedira, according to reports from ESPN.
Red Devils chief David Moyes was linked with a late move for the German international over the summer, but was unable to push through a deal before the window closed.
After a disappointing start to the campaign, United are rumoured to be ready to invest in their squad over the winter, and a return for Khedira is believed to be a priority.
The 26-year-old is thought to be surplus to requirements at the Bernabeu, and has recently spoken out about his frustrations at life in the Spanish capital:
“I’m not a Spanish player, I did not cost a lot of money and I am one of [former manager Jose] Mourinho’s disciples.
“I started the season on the bench or in the stands. Even if I play well, I am the scapegoat and so will not be properly valued.”
Khedira is thought to be keen to reunited with Jose Mourinho at Chelsea, but Moyes is ready to offer him the chance to become a key part of his new look United side.
The Premier League champions have also been linked with Roma’s Miralem Pjanic and Ander Herrera of Athletic Bilbao.
