Chicharito enjoyed an excellent debut campaign in England, but slipped down the pecking order last term following the arrival of Robin van Persie.
His chances have remained slim since David Moyes’ arrival, with the Scot having rationed Hernandez to domestic and European cup outings.
But, the club have always insisted that Hernandez remains a key part of their plans and are set to offer him a new deal.
It is thought that United are ready to offer him a rise on his £60,000-per-week earnings and reassure him about his role in the starting XI, which may increase during the hectic festive schedule.
Former coach Rene Meulensteen – now at Fulham – believes that Hernandez would not struggle to find another English team, but may find it tough to leave:
“If Hernandez comes to an age where he thinks he wants regular football and he can get into another top team in the Premier League then I can see him considering it, but it’s not easy leaving Manchester United.”
