Nemanja Vidic has returned to full training with Manchester United and could be ready for Premier League action within two weeks, according to report from The Mirror.

The Serbian has been unavailable since September after undergoing surgery on his troublesome knee.

Despite suffering a number of recurrences of previous injuries in the past, the Red Devils’ medical staff believe that the problem may now have been solved and are happy with the progress he is making.

It had previously been suggested by Sir Alex Ferguson that the 31-year-old would not be back until around Christmas, but his speedy recovery has made the club’s December clash with Sunderland a possibility.

There have been rumours that he could be fit for next week’s Champions League clash with Cluj, but medical staff are believed to be against rushing him into action.

Vidic suffered a succession of knee injuries last season. The most serious of which came when he twisted the joint in December against Basel, resulting in cruciate ligament damage.

He took part in United’s first game of the current season against Everton, but surgery to solve the issue was deemed to be the best option.

The centre-back signed for the Old Trafford side in 2006 from Russian giants Spartak Moscow.

He has gone on to make in excess of 150 appearances in the North West, becoming club captain.
