Patrice Evra is set to leave Manchester United when his contract expires at the end of the season, according to the Guardian.

The 32-year-old full back is yet to make a final decision, but is thought to be favouring a move abroad.

Evra is out of contract in the summer and the club are yet to open talks over a new deal.

The Frenchman is set to turn 33 in May, and David Moyes’ public pursuit of a new left-back has indicated Evra is not in his long term plans, although he remains an admirer of the player’s abilities.

If Evra does leave United in the summer, then a return to Monaco – the French club from whom he joined United in January 2006 – is his most likely destination.

Moyes is understood to have informed Evra some time ago that he is looking to bring in competition for his position, leading to the club’s vice captain looking to explore different options.

Moyes saw two official bids for Everton left back Leighton Baines rejected in the summer, while the club have been strongly linked with Southampton’s Luke Shaw.

The United boss was also reportedly in Sardina on Sunday to scout Cagliari centre-back Davide Astori.
