Manchester United target Everton Ribeiro has moved to cool talk of a January switch to Old Trafford, by claiming that he is happy with Cruzeiro.
The Brazilian winger has been strongly linked with a winter move to the Premier League champions, amid reports that contact between the two clubs has already been made.
Ribeiro himself has also sent out signals that he is ready to join David Moyes’ side, claiming that he would be a good fit at the club and that could be willing to reject potential advances from Real Madrid – who are also interested – to make the move.
But, the 24-year-old has now moved to quash rumours that a deal is imminent, stating that he is happy in his homeland with his current side:
“There is a lot of speculation but for now I am just enjoying my vacations.” He is quoted by the Daily Star.
“I’ll present myself at Cruzeiro on 6 January to have a good pre-season and another great year at Cruzeiro.
“Everything is working out little by little, Cruzeiro have a great squad, everyone treats me well and I am very happy there.”
United may find a deal for Ribeiro difficult to complete, with 40% of the midfielder’s rights held by a third party company.
