The Juventus midfielder has been heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford, as Louis van Gaal builds his new squad ahead of the next Premier League season. The Dutchman had made Vidal his transfer priority, but is set to be disappointed.
Juventus’ chief executive officer Giuseppe Marotta has spoken on the matter, stating: “Vidal is a Juventus player and we have never put him up for sale,” he said. “He is one of the most important players in the squad. He is happy to be here.
“Many things have been written. We’ve never put him up for sale. Important clubs have asked after him, but we have never sat down to talk. The player decides and yesterday Vidal showed that he is happy to continue with us.”
Speculation over a move to Old Trafford grew stronger when Antonio Conte resigned as Juventus manager. Whilst many fans believed the Italian resigned because the club had agreed to sell Vidal, Marotta confirmed that was not the case as he unveiled new manager Massimiliano Allegri.
United have already signed Ander Herrera and Luke Shaw this summer, but van Gaal won’t be adding the Chilean midfielder to his squad, according to Marotta.
