In an exclusive reported by French outlet Le 10 Sport, Jose Mourinho is planning a January raid on West Ham with a move that would be sure to upset Hammers fans fearful of relegation.

What's the word?

Dimitri Payet was incredible for West Ham last season, scoring 12 goals across the campaign and helping them to European qualification.

It was form that translated to international football too, red-hot for France throughout Euro 2016 and beyond into World Cup qualification, scoring 7 goals for his country in 2016.

However, French paper Le 10 Sport report that his time in London could be coming to an end with Jose Mourinho making the midfielder one of his big priorities in the coming transfer window.

Despite not quite hitting the highs of last season in 2016/17, it would still be a bitter blow for West Ham who currently sit just one point above the relegation zone.

What does he offer Man United?

United have been struggling to score goals from midfield this season, with Zlatan Ibrahimovic having to bail them out more often that not.

As noted, Payet has that ability with 90 career goals to date. Bringing in a player with a ruthlessness and eye for goal could be a massive positive for Mourinho's side and take the pressure off the likes of Paul Pogba & Juan Mata to provide that cutting edge from midfield.

Payet has extensive experience and has shown he's a big game player, excelling for France with an entire nation's glare on his performances.

He could be exactly what they need even if he's not the traditional massive name signing fans at Old Trafford are used to.
