Manchester United will use the sale of Nani to fund deals for James Rodriguez and Victor Wanyama, if clubs follow up interest in the Portuguese winger, the Mirror reports.

The future of Nani has been speculated for a while now and it seems he is edging closer to the Old Trafford exit door after a series of bust ups with Sir Alex Ferguson, with the likes of Arsenal and Juventus said to be interested in securing his services in £20million deals.

The 26-year-old, currently out of action through injury, hasn't started a Premier League game since November and if he is to be sold, United could use the funds generated in order to sign Celtic's tough tackling midfielder Victor Wanyama and Porto winger James Rodriguez.

Wanyama, who has been instrumental in Celtic's successful Champions League run this season, would add steel to United's midfield options and be seen as an ideal solution to help with the team's current poor defensive form.

Colombian international Rodriguez who has been dubbed "the new Cristiano Ronaldo" could be seen as a like for like replacement if Nani is to depart.

Nani has endured a frustrating time at Manchester United but has still shown enough of his ability during his Old Trafford career for him to be an attractive proposition for other clubs .

The 2010-2011 title winning season for the Red Devils saw Nani named the club's player of the season as he scored nine goals and provided 18 assists in the league after an excellent campaign.
