Manchester United hero Patrice Evra would jump at the chance of playing the final years of his career back at Old Trafford, according to the Daily Mail.

What's the story?

Evra is a big favourite among United supporters as he helped the club to five Premier League titles, as well as three League Cups and a Champions League trophy during his eight-year spell with the English giants.

The Frenchman left the Red Devils for Juventus in 2014, but has regularly indicated publicly that he still has a fondness for his former club.

So much so that the Mail are reporting that he would not think twice about going back to the North West of England as he enters the twilight years of his career.

At the age of 35, Evra has had limited appearances at Juve, starting just three Serie A games this season, but the man himself is reportedly keen for more playing time.

Is it the right move for both parties?

It remains to be seen whether United would actually swoop for their former player, but manager Jose Mourinho likes a decent mix of experience within his squad, with Michael Carrick and Zlatan Ibrahimovic performing well under the Portuguese coach.

In addition, the left-back position has been a problem area for United this season, with Luke Shaw failing to reach the fitness levels required.

Matteo Darmian has also played down the left, but the Italian is naturally right-footed and considering that he did not feature in the early stages of the season, he is not first choice for Mourinho.

Evra would provide experience for United, but would his return be a problem? The left-back, who made 379 appearances for the club, could potentially stunt the progress of Shaw, and with only a few years left in his playing career, it may not be the best option for the club.
