Paris Saint-Germain are considering a big money move for Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney, according to reports from the Daily Mail.

The England international only penned a new £300,000-per-week contract recently, yet there are doubts surrounding his future already.

With Louis can Gaal being lined up as David Moyes’ permanent successor, speculation suggests that Rooney may be set for a more diluted role at Old Trafford.

‘Wazza’ has been tipped to be United’s next captain with Nemanja Vidic due to leave in the summer, however the Dutchman is rumoured to be eyeing up Robin van Persie to be his on-field leader and talisman.

Van Gaal is known to have a close relationship with his compatriot, and making him the focal point of the team would see Rooney shifted to accommodate him in his preferred role as the main forward.

This has alerted PSG, who were linked with the former Everton starlet last summer.

The Parisians are one of the few teams on the planet that can afford to match his salary, and are keen to partner him up front with Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

United are likely to demand at least £35m for the 28-year-old.
