Fiorentina have made Manchester United centre-back Nemanja Vidic their top target heading into next month’s transfer window, according to reports from TuttoMercato.

The Serie A side have enjoyed a fine start to the season and are keen to build on their current fourth position with big name additions during January.

Vidic has emerged as a priority, with a defensive leader on La Viola’s wish list.

The 32-year-old has slipped from being one of the Premier League’s most feared enforcers due to a series of injuries over the course of the past few seasons, but is still thought of as a fearsome centre-half.

Despite having started 12 of the Red Devils’ 19 top-flight games this term, rumours have suggested that the Eastern European may be ready to seek a new challenge.

United chief David Moyes is known to be in the market for additions, and a move for Benfica’s Ezequiel Garay could free up Vidic for a switch to Italy.

AC Milan have also been linked with the experienced Serbian, and could enter the race for his services.
