It may not be a top-draw fixture but England are just two days away from their first game since Sam Allardyce's abrupt departure - a World Cup qualifier against Malta on Saturday, followed by another Group F clash with Slovenia on Tuesday.

Indeed, nobody's quite sure of what to expect from the currently temporary Gareth Southgate era; the same old boring football, the introduction of young talents like late call-up Michael Keane or something completely ground-breaking that revolutionises our national team forever.

Admittedly, the latter scenario seems unlikely. But perhaps a quick look at England's training session could give us an insight of what to expect against their coming opposition.

With that in mind, Football FanCast have picked out seven superb images from the Three Lions' training camp, featuring some of Liverpool, Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United's biggest stars.

So sit back, relax and kick off the international break with a quick gander through our high-resolution gallery!

THE NEW BOY

England Training

England's players are ready to go but there's a new boy in training - Burnley defender Michael Keane, who was a late call-up following an injury to Stoke City's Glen Johnson. Will Gareth Southgate issue the 23-year-old his first cap at senior level? Only time will tell.

SOUTHGATE'S SILKY SKILLS

England Training

Southgate may be in the management business nowadays but he certainly wasn't a shoddy player before hanging up his boots. Even with Sam Allardyce's large shadow looming over England at the moment, the interim manager found some time for a few kick-ups in training.

STURRIDGE MAKES A NEW FRIEND

England Training

Going to training camps as a kid was always a chance to make new friends. It appears Daniel Sturridge hasn't given up in that regard, getting cosy with this giant inflatable defender. Something tells me Malta's men at the back will be a little tougher.

HART'S READY TO GO

England Training

Joe Hart is amid the most turbulent spell of his career, finding himself shipped out to Torino on loan after committing two costly errors at Euro 2016. It remains to be seen if Gareth Southgate will keep the Manchester City favourite as England's No.1, but he looks raring to go in training.

BUT SO IS FORSTER

England Training

That being said, Fraser Forster represents Hart's strongest competitor for the No.1 jersey and the Southampton goalkeeper looks in pretty good shape too - getting his hand to this effort and following the ball with his eyes all the way.

STONES VS RASHFORD

England Training

Marcus Rashford and John Stones operate at opposing ends on the pitch and either side of the Manchester divide. But both are seen as integral parts of the future of the national team and could be given chances to impress against Malta and Slovenia. Here they are testing each other with a few one-on-ones.

STONES VS ALLI

England Training

Dele Alli's famed for his silky skills and fiery temperament and the latter is certainly on show here, partaking in a little wrestling match with the aforementioned Stones. Will this improve their performances against Malta or Slovenia? Who knows. Either way, both youngsters appear to be enjoying themselves.
