Sir Alex Ferguson described Ryan Giggs as 'incredible', and backed him to play on beyond this season following his performance against West Ham last night.

The 39-year-old who is deployed in a more central position these days, was instrumental for Manchester United last night as they saw off West Ham in their FA Cup replay to book a place in the fourth round against Fulham.

Sir Alex was quick to praise the veteran Welshman's performance and was quoted by the Daily Mail as telling MUTV, "He will play for another year".

"There are no signs of tiredness or weakness in his game, his quality is still there, he has fantastic balance and he has appetite for it.

"He is just an incredible human being."

Himself along with Scholes are the two oldest players in United's ranks, and despite not being able to play as many games they have shown that even in their late 30's, both are still useful squad players.

However Giggs was slightly more reluctant than his manager to talk up his ability to continue playing on, saying:

"I don't feel like that now!' he said after playing the full 90 minutes against West Ham.

'I'm enjoying it more than ever at the moment, though. The FA Cup at Old Trafford...if you don't enjoy it you need to pack it in.'

The Welshman has made a club record 926 appearances in his time at Old Trafford, and his manager is confident he has plenty left in the tank.
