Along with Marco Reus, Mats Hummels and Toni Kroos, Louis van Gaal is reportedly keen to bring fellow Bundesliga star Ricardo Rodriguez with him to Old Trafford this summer, despite Manchester United’s well-documented desires to sign Southampton prodigy Luke Shaw.
Like the England starlet, the Wolfsburg left-back is famed for his attacking contribution, having racked up a sensational five goals and eight assists in 32 Bundesliga outings this season.
Furthermore, the 21 year-old is part of a youthful Switzerland side that surprised many by qualifying for the World Cup this year and appear to be developing together at an incredible rate.
He’d certainly offer the Red Devils a new dimension going forward, having averaged 2.9 tackles, 2.2 key passes and 2.5 dribbles per match this term, inkeeping with Van Gaal’s attack-minded philosophy, but the Swiss star’s defensive game does leave a lot to be desired.
Regardless, Rodriguez boasts enormous potential, and his Carrington arrival could come around £10million cheaper than Luke Shaw’s, with a rumoured price-tag of £20million.
